What We’re Looking for in a Tour Home

The Home

Tour-ready, polished, welcoming and free of excessive clutter

Thoughtfully designed and styled for modern living

Interesting architecture, renovations, interiors or a compelling story

A home that reflects the homeowner’s personality—it does not have to be overly formal or professionally decorated

Homeowners who are willing to have the areas included on the tour looking their best

We love a variety of homes—historic, newly built, renovated, traditional, contemporary and everything in between.

Interior Access

Full access is wonderful but not required. Homeowners may close off certain rooms, private areas or even an entire floor. We will work with them to create a comfortable tour route.

Gardens and Outdoor Spaces

If a garden or outdoor area will be featured, it should be established, attractive and easy for visitors to navigate. This may include:

Landscaped gardens and lawns

Courtyards or terraces

Pools and pool houses

Outdoor kitchens or entertaining areas

Unique architectural or landscape features

What Homeowners Can Expect

Approximately six weeks before the tour, we will schedule one convenient visit to the home. During that meeting, we will:

Learn about the home’s history and special features

Gather information about the architect, builder, interior designer, landscape designer and renovation work

Create brief docent notes highlighting the home’s most interesting details

Determine the tour route and identify any areas that will remain private

Establish house rules for volunteers and visitors

Take a few interior and exterior photographs and videography for tour publicity and social media

The home does not need to be picture-perfect for this visit. We will only share carefully selected glimpses—not the entire home.

On Tour Day

The homeowner simply makes sure the home is ready for visitors—we handle the rest. Volunteers and docents will be stationed throughout the property to guide guests, protect the home and help the day run smoothly. We arrive by 9:30 and depart by 4:30.

Privacy, Security & Protection

Protecting each home and respecting the homeowner’s privacy are top priorities.

Home addresses are never shared publicly. They are provided only to confirmed ticket holders.

We carry a $1 million event-day liability insurance policy covering each home on the tour.

Trained docents are carefully stationed throughout the home to guide visitors, manage the flow of traffic and help protect the property.

If needed, we will arrange security personnel and traffic patrol for additional support.
