A Thoughtful Transformation: Blending Classic Charm with Modern Elegance

Tuxedo Road

In early 2021, the homeowners purchased the property planning to do a limited renovation and addition. The home was originally built in 1987 and had been lovingly maintained by its original owners.  Eighteen months later the results included 800 additional square feet, a completely reimagined foyer and front entry and a complete redesign of the homes interiors and spaces.

The homeowners asked Blake Segars to come on board to help with the architectural design and Ben Dailey and Son signed on as contractors. Segars was chosen, in part, because he holds degrees in both Architecture and landscape architecture. The property had a lot of mature plant specimens and a developed landscape-the homeowners knew there would be disruption to the property but wanted it to be as minimal as possible. Segars maintained the spirit of the older home while updating its spaces for the current needs and lifestyle of the homeowners. Interior and lighting design was provided by Jaqueline Hardy Designs and interior decorating provided by Lynne Turman Interiors.

The homes' decor combines a love of antiques with pops of abstract and popular art including Stephanie Henderson, Steve Penley, Howard Finster, Laura Lacambra Shubert and Melissa Payne Baker.

Outside the garden was initially created 30 years ago by Gibbs Landscape Company. The family brought them back to the project to update plantings, re-establsih sound pruning techniques, begin a redesign of the backyard and to create a cutting garden area along the driveway.
